Today is the first time I’m coming across it again. Here it is in it’s original form with all it’s flaws.
Here’s to the crazy ones
This is a kind off topic post but it’s something I need to write about. People need to understand that other people are allowed to have different lives and opinions as compared to theirs and that normal doesn’t really exist.
In life you will meet people who will try to bring about negativity and will tell you that you can’t do certain things when they are just talking about themselves.
I am 18 years old and 2-3 weeks from now I’m leaving home and going on a journey with a single backpack to wherever the roads take me.
I plan on visiting Nepal and Bhutan and then move along slowly towards Vietnam and other southeast asian countries. I don’t really know when/if I’ll be back.
I am living out of a single backpack because really what’s the point of all the materialistic things we get in our lives just to impress people we don’t even like. I am guilty of the same and I have a wardrobe that I probably haven’t worn 75% of more than once.
However now as I chose a life of minimalism, a 50 liter backpack is my new home
I don’t plan on visiting like a 100 countries in my lifetime rather I’ll visit quite a few, I travel slowly and it’s more like I’m just relocating my entire life and immersing myself in the culture.
Before you call me spoilt or whatever I’ll like to point out that I’m financing myself(freelancing / personal training etc etc) so to the people with their hate and loud mouthed opinions, unless your opinions are paying my bills please keep them to yourself.
People around the world will tell you, not to follow your dreams and that those kind of ideas are for crazy people!!
They want you to be part of average system of getting good grades, getting a safe and secure job, having an average of 2.5 kids, buying more things you don’t need to impress people you don’t care about, making a living and then die.
I however know what I want out of life at such a young age and I know getting there is going to be hard and hell of a lot of struggle but I’m willing to put in the sacrifice. Most people aren’t so lucky, they place limitations based on ethnicity, religion, nationality, age etc.
But they forget the most important factor. WE ARE HUMAN, and the human potential is mind-blowing, we have landed people on the moon and have shown that the sky isn’t the limit!
The potential that laid in Neil Armstrong lies in each and every one of us.
Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve what you want, You want it bad enough you will find a way.
If you have never failed you have never tried
That been said however if you choose to become a musician should you quit your job this instant or drop out of college to pursue it? Probably not!
I take risks but only calculated risks!
During my first backpacking trip I checked out if I could live with a tiny backpack for over 1/2 a month.
Once I knew I could, I realized that I wanted to have the life I have now then so I began researching and during my second trip it was a test to see if I can financially sustain myself while traveling. I paid for the entire trip with money I earned during the trip. (Note from 2026: This was actually me trying to sound less crazy to people back then. I left before I ever made any income online.)
So yeah, we all heard the stories of the people who abruptly quit their jobs and suddenly decided to travel, sure that’s definitely going to be an entirely new experience but It’s highly risky,
If you want to be the next Ed Sheeran should you as a beginner just quit college or school or your job and start playing, I highly doubt it!
You should probably start by playing and learning by yourself maybe sharing a bit of it on social media then connect with like-minded people, start playing small gigs and then expand to bigger gigs.
However they will come a time where you will have to make a decision and take a leap, it’s not entirely a risky heap of faith because as I said remember calculated risks!
But you will have to give it your all, and the thing is luck is almost a myth cause the truth is the more you work the luckier you seem to get.
You don’t have to believe the idea that you are in this world to be a slave and work to make someone else’s dream come true.
You can either work on your dream or on somebody else’s.
But the thing is every time you give up on your dream, it’s not just yourself you give up on but all the people you could have helped had you fulfilled your dream.
That’s why I keep going, because I have great plans of things I want to do! People I want to help!
If you realize the path you are on isn’t the right one for you its okay to leave that path and make your own! You don’t have to be like the person people want you to be if that isn’t you!
I however ain’t alone in my travel’s and all the people who support me are with me in this journey.
