Spiti Valley Adventure Continues Key Monastry

Spiti Valley Adventure Continues Key Monastry

After a refreshing nights rest in Kaza in the comfort of a real bed after the cold weather while camping. We make our way to Key Monastery, however we had to say bye to Tim as he headed off for the trek through the villages of the valley.

Key Monastery was an experience to say the least. We arrived in the monastery and stayed there for 2 nights. We ate like the monks, attended the morning prayer session and talked a lot with the monks.

Tiny Lama ☺😍 #monastery #spitivalley #tibet #india

During the first night as we were in our rooms and when the monastery was asleep and in silence, suddenly we had a knock at the door. Someone from the next room came in and asked, “Who is the guy from Goa?” Everyone pointed at me. “The monks have called him”.

Everyone’s reaction was priceless. As I made my way to the Temple I wondered what could the monks possibly want. Apparently the monk wanted a little help getting the temple ready for the early morning prayer.

We had talked that evening and he seemed to like me. So we ended up talking in the temple for a long time about life, Buddhism, family and everything.

Later once I left the temple, I met up with the others and we went out to the roof and spent a lot of time stargazing. Spiti Valley hands down has been the clearest night sky I have seen till date.

They’re no shortcuts to anyplace worth going✊❤ #lonelyroad #spitivalley #travelgram

The next day, Lakshmi and the Israeli girls went ahead to Kibber; a city a little away from the Monastery. I spent the day spending a lot of time socializing and helping out the monks will their daily errands.

The next day everyone went back to Kaza, but I trekked halfway and then hitchhiked my way to Kibber on the back of a tractor. My ass hurt so much as I held tight for my life thanks to the bumpy ride. Once in Kibber I met up with the girls over there.

Hitchhiking in the himalayas #bumpyroads 😅

We went to Chicham that evening. We had to cross a massive valley on a tiny cart to go the village. Having a phobia of heights, and the cart was so so scary.

So we had to cross a valley on a tiny cart 😐😂😂 Don’t mind my screams 😂 I have a phobia of heights 😂😂 #spitivalley #tibet #india

Chicham was a very calm Tibetan village, we quickly grabbed a chai before heading back to Kibber.

Don’t listen to what there say, go! #tibet #spitivalley #india

The next morning we caught the bus to Kaza and the next day made our way back to Manali. After the long 12 hour bus from Manali to Kaza, I didn’t get time to rest as I caught another bus to Delhi in the night.

It was my last few days in India before heading off to Sri Lanka. As I was flying out of Chennai, I had to spent about 2 days in the train from Delhi until I finally reached Chennai.

After travelling in the general compartment in trains in Bihar and other parts of India so many times, the Air Conditioned train to Chennai felt like flying first class :’).

Arriving in Chennai from the quiet desert of Spiti I just wanted to leave the city as soon as possible. After meeting some ex classmates & friends from Goa, I finally said goodbye to India for a couple of years as I left across to Sri Lanka

A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there❤☺ #hustle #digitalnomad
